It totally gives the designer free advertising and it's not ANY different than borrowing a pattern from a friend!!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01575839935238023130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051995495282514162.post-79534060364849469792012-10-31T08:15:46.469-07:002012-10-31T08:15:46.469-07:00hi Nancy, Your Jolly Jack turned out cute and I to...hi Nancy, Your Jolly Jack turned out cute and I totally agree with you on the traveling pattern. I have seen and entered several of these traveling patterns. the ones that I don't win and I really like I go out and buy. So it a win for the designer also.
Happy Stitching
DeniseDenisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12024471929106368660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051995495282514162.post-39029600591347428132012-10-29T07:22:09.515-07:002012-10-29T07:22:09.515-07:00Jolly Jack is adorable, Nancy! Have started one myself last year and I think, if anything, it has made more stitchers purchase it rather than hope to win it in a draw :)

Thanks again for your advice on my thumb pain--really appreciate it!!Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10368237913096460512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051995495282514162.post-36203177570849833292012-10-28T09:45:41.641-07:002012-10-28T09:45:41.641-07:00Good for you xx It is indeed free publicity and I...Good for you xx It is indeed free publicity and I have often bought charts from designers I didnt even know existed simply because I have seen them on travelling routes or given away. These days it is sinful to waste charts etc and bad for the environment so giving them away just makes sense. stitchersanonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12844767540468536515noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051995495282514162.post-59719080217945211272012-10-24T14:28:28.060-07:002012-10-24T14:28:28.060-07:00I have thought about the issues around Travelling ...I have thought about the issues around Travelling Patterns and PIF patterns etc alot over the past year. Even a pattern which is travelling quickly like this one is being used by a relatively small amount of people and the publicity generated is bigger due the blogs it's being posted on.
Compare that to the pattern pirates who scan and post on those forums - 1000s of free downloads and very little additional revenue for the designer because those sort of people don't go pay for more patterns.
As long as there is only one pattern in circulation (ie the Travelling Pattern) then it breaks no laws. If you want to send the designer a thank you then feel free to do so or just buy more of their designs!Jo who can't think of a clever nicknamehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02663450738390351663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3051995495282514162.post-64876251837797632692012-10-23T07:26:00.295-07:002012-10-23T07:26:00.295-07:00I like your Halloween picture!
